Oceanic Ventures, Inc.The Strange ChroniclesMarch 2001 25 March 2001 We're moving East inside a reef and I've got to go watch beautiful, clear blue 30 foot deep water slide by. It's so stunningly clear I feel like we're motoring in a huge swimming pool. 11 March 2001 Today, after Rebecca and I went for a swim in calm waters around the boat, I headed out looking for lobsters. A likely looking spot turned out to be lucky and there were two lobbies in the first little coral patch I investigated. We keep a 5 gallon bucket in the dinghy to hold our catch. The first lobster filled the bucket! No kidding, I had to let the second one crawl around the bottom of the dinghy. Ended up with the monster and two large lobbies - one for S/V Ayacha. Cold boiled lobster with red sauce again. Hope we don't run out of Tabasco and horseradish before we hit civilization again 02 March 2001 Other than Bob and Lise we've only seen one other cruising boat and only to share a big anchorage for one night. No locals, no authorities, just miles of isolated islands with sandy beaches on one side and mangroves in the other. We shouldn't be seeing too much of civilization for the next couple of months which is just fine with me! 01 March 2001 I went hunting again this afternoon with the expectation of finding some fish. I did come across a couple of schools of snapper but only one or two were large enough to take and they were too skittish. So...lobster again tonight. I wasn't really looking hard for lobster, they just come crawling out of the reef. I've never seen anything like it. Our rule is not to take females with eggs. In this area lobsters are so easy to find we don't take any females period
