Leon Scamahorn was in Houston to introduce InnerSpace Systems Corporation’s new Pathfinder rebreather and Megalodon family of rebreathers. Over 24 divers tried out the rebreathers and more came to Leon’s presentations both during the demonstrations and at the Club Aquarius dinner. What a fun time…

February 25 saw the staff of Oceanic Ventures and Silent Diving Systems hosting a Rebreather Demonstration of the Evolution and Inspriation Rebreathers in Austin, Texas. Despite the cold weather and the “heated” pool (well it was at about 70 degrees), we had a great turn out and the divers had a wonderful experience.

The group sampled six scotches, three from the Dalmore and three from Jura. The Royal Oak Bar and Grill and Glaziers Representative, David Morris, hosted the event. We had a great time and learned a lot about the different styles of Scotch and then there were the Truffle Fries….

The Oceanic Ventures Staff Holiday party was held on January 23. January was more fun because there were fewer conflicts with other holiday festivities so more people could attend. Our party includes a Blind gift exchange, complete with the ability to “steal” someone else’s gift. The theme of the party this year was dreaming of the islands.

The Oceanic Ventures Birthday Party and Pig Roast was held at Yalpa on January 19. In December Oceanic Ventures turned twenty years old. We decided to start our year off with a party and why not something special – a pig roasting on the spit. We had an awesome time!

Our Winter Escape to Cozumel was both challenging and fun. First, the cold fronts we were experiencing in Houston, made their way down to Cozumel causing winds and rough seas. As a result the port was closed the day we arrived and the next day. Not to worry, it was off to the mainland for some cenote diving! The port reopened the next day and we headed out from Cozumel. What a fun trip with some really cool people!

The Diver XY Social for December was held at The Vintage Lounge on 10 December 2010. The Divers were sporting the new Diver XY Hoodies and promoting the Little Cayman Trip in August. The event was co-sponsored by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
