New Scuba Divers

There is really something special about babies and our diving family has been expanding a lot over the past few months.  Oceanic Ventures is a family oriented dive store so we have a special appreciation for the new divers joining our diving family.  Remember it will only be a few years before they are ready for our Star Fish program and their first diving mask.  Ann is always quick to ask new parents when they will be bringing their new dive buddy to the dive store for a visit and a photo with her and maybe even “Al.”

Most recently, one our staff, David Morris and his wife Marissa brought Morgan Morris into the world. David even laughed that she was already becoming a nitrox diver because she was on elevated oxygen (i.e. nitrox) while in the incubator after her delivery.  She is still a few weeks away from her first visit here, but we are anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Another of our diving clients, Giles Adam brought his beautiful baby girl, Genevieve, who was born on 25 October, to the dive store to meet Dive Mom and to start learning where to buy her father some scuba Christmas gifts.  Giles is one of the members of  Team Ice Cold and went to Antarctica with us last March.

Ann and Eric were also priviledged to serve as God Parents for Anna Coussirat, the daughter of long time customers and friends Dan and Angie Coussirat.

It is always special when children come to visit, especially the newest member of our family.  Congratlations on the birth of your children and we really look forward to their first Star Fish class!

Changes at Oceanic Ventures

Ashton and Joyce - Ashton is Working Until the Last Minute

The world keeps changing and Oceanic Ventures is not immune.  After graduating from the University of Houston, Ashton, our Retail Manager, has decided to change things up a bit and move to Boston.  He is a part of our family and a part of the Oceanic Ventures family.  He is moving to Boston to be closer to Joyce, who moved up to Boston a year ago.

Ashton will still be involved with the Company as a consultant and would like to lead a few of the really cold water trips (there are not many of our staff who love ice diving); he has also agreed to help us with some other projects.

Before leaving, Ashton tried to perform a Vulcan Mind Meld with Alex and transfer much of his knowledge and experience to him.  Alex is a long-time client who has come on-board to take over some of Ashton’s duties and to keep Ann and me on-track.  Please wish him well in that task!

You will also find some other new staff working part-time in the store along with some other old friends.  Please come by and meet Alex and check on Dive Mom.  You can reach Alex by email or phone just as you can reach Ann or me via our personal email accounts and through the store’s main account at divesafe@oceanicventures.com.

Things are changing but one thing remains the same, our commitment to being your door to adventure!TM  We have a lot of exciting things happening this year including some really cool travel opportunities, Club Aquarius meetings, and our all new DiverXY group.  You really have no excuse not to make scuba diving a lifetime pastime.

Ashton Graduated!

Graduation Ceremony

Friday was the day! Ashton Arsement graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Economics.

You may not know this but Ashton has been working full time and pursuing his college degree from the University of Houston.  On friday all of his hard work paid off and he attained his goal and was awarded his degree.  We are all very proud of him.  It took a great deal of work and perseverance to reach this point.  Ashton has shown a great deal of dedication to achieving his goals.

After his last exam. we asked what he is going to do now, he did not say he was going to Disney World, but rather he felt funny because there was no more studying to do or concern over classes for next semester.

On behalf of the entire staff of Oceanic Ventures, Congratulations, Ashton!
