Scuba Skills Update

When it is time to get back into the water!

Have you been out of the water for a while?  Do you remember how to assemble your equipment?  Do you remember how much weight you need in fresh or salt water?

If you have been away from diving for a few months or years, a Scuba Skills Update is an ideal way to get comfortable again and prepare for your diving vacation.  This program is designed to help you relax while reviewing your basic diving skills and relearning what it means to be neutrally buoyant underwater.  This is also your opportunity to pull out your diving equipment. Let us help you check and ensure it is operational before your trip.  You can even trade in some of your equipment and get some newer, stylish things to help make you look as good as you feel when you are floating weightlessly in the water.

You must complete some forms and do some reading beforehand. The reading is online and just serves as a review of some of the basic diving concepts.

Enrollment needs to be done at least two weeks before the class so we can review your equipment with you and check the completion of the forms. This also gives you enough time to review the online materials prior to your class session.

FAQ

When is this program taught?

Generally, our group classes start the first Monday of every month and the third Tuesday of the month. We also have more tailored schedules to meet your schedules.

What is the schedule for the program?

The academic portion of the program is done using digital educational materials with two classroom sessions. The first classroom session is at the beginning of the program and is designed to get you started and to answer any questions that have popped up during the reading. The second class is scheduled for the end of the program and is designed to answer questions and ensure you are ready for the test. The pools are generally set up on the weekends to help you feel comfortable in the water. Then there are two open water days during which you will make four to six dives.

Do I need any equipment?

Like Golf and Tennis, Scuba Diving is an equipment-intensive sport, so you will need some equipment to get started.

Where can I learn more about the program?

You can see more about the programs here or by contacting one of the Oceanic Ventures staff members by email or phone.
