Cave diving is without doubt one of the most challenging and rewarding forms of diving you can undertake. Hidden beneath our feet is a whole new world of mystery and wonder waiting to be discovered – the IANTD Cave Diver programs are your ticket to this magical world of underwater caves and their natural wonders…
IANTD’s range of Cave Diver training programs allow you to develop your skills and knowledge of Cave diving in a safe, progressive and controlled manner under the direct supervision of your IANTD Cave Instructor.
Building upon your existing knowledge and skills, you’ll learn the benefits of Cave diving and the skills to assess and manage the risks associated with the cave environment. Built upon an unrivalled pedigree of cave exploration across the globe, IANTD’s all-encompassing Cave Diver training programs are at the very cutting edge.

Cavern Diver
The Cavern Diver program is designed to train the diver in the equipment, skills and procedures required to safely and competently dive in the overhead environment of a cavern. The IANTD Cavern Diver program trains the diver in the basic skills needed to safely dive in an overhead environment. The main focus points of the program include equipment configuration, line drills and use of line reels and developing self sufficiency and safety through skills development.
Prerequisites: Must be a qualified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent Must prneude proof of a minimum of 10 dives Must be a minimum of 15 years of age with a parent or guardian authorisation, or a minimum of 18 years of age without guardian approval
Equipment Requirements: IANTD Cavern Diver Student Kit A dual-outlet cylinder is recommended A 1 metre / 40 inch long hose is required – a 2 metre / 5 – 7 ft long hose is recommended A primary reel and/or safety reel Two lights

Cave Diver
The Cave Diver program is designed to take the diver through all training necessary to pan and conduct dives in the cave diving environment.
Throughout the program, the emphasis is placed on developing the diver’s equipment configuration, buoyancy control and propulsion techniques to enable safe and efficient cave dives to be made. Line following, line laying and use of reels are covered extensively as are safety skills such as isolation manifold use, gas shares and light failure drills. A major part of the course is the development of team diving procedures and communication.
Prerequisites: Must be qualified as a Cavern Diver or equivalent. If not, must have proof of 100 dives or sufficient experience doing technical dives to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age Have a minimum of 50 logged cave dives
Equipment Requirements: IANTD Cave Diver Student Kit Fulfill general equipment requirements for technical diver programs Two primary reels and a safety reel Three line arrows and three non-directional markers One primary light and two backup lights

CCR Cave Diver
The IANTD CCR Cave Diver program follows the IANTD Full Cave Diver program but adapted to the specific needs of the qualified CCR diver. The program trains the diver in the procedures and techniques required to plan and execute safe cave dives using a Closed Circuit Rebreather.
The program is designed to take the diver through all training necessary to plan and conduct dives in the cave diving environment using a closed circuit rebreather. The emphasis is placed on developing the diver’s equipment configuration, buoyancy control and propulsion techniques to enable safe and efficient cave dives to be made.
Line following, line laying and use of reels are covered extensively as are safety skills such as CCR failure management, light failure and lost line drills. A major part of the course is the development of team diving procedures and communication.
Prerequisites: Must be a qualified IANTD CCR Diver or equivelent Must have 20 dives and 35 hours on the rebreather being used Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Equipment Requirements: IANTD Cave Diver Student Kit IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver Student Kit for CCR Own or have unlimited access to an approved rebreather Fulfill general equipment requirements for cave diver programs

Advanced Cave Diver
The pinnacle of IANTD cave diver training. The Advanced Cave diver program consists of four distinct modules which can be conducted back to back, in pairs or individually…
Side Mount Diver – The course trains the diver in the use of both side and no mount equipment configurations for the cave diving environment with an emphasis on equipment configuration and safety procedures.
Multiple Stage Diving – The course extends the cave divers cave penetration capabilities by the use of staging multiple cylinders throughout the planned inward swim. The emphasis is on gas management planning and emergency procedures.
Cave Surveying – The course teaches the diver to gather survey data during cave dives to be used post dive to draw up maps and surveys of cave passages and includes a review of survey tools and equipment and team projects to gather data and produce surveys
DPV Diver – The course trains the diver in the safe operation of diver propulsion vehicles, firstly in the open water to develop skills then in the cave environment to put the learnt skills in to practice. The course covers emergency procedures including DPV failure, diver tows and gas shares whilst using DPV’s
The IANTD DPV Diver course may be run as a module of the IANTD Advanced Cave program in the cave environment or in the Open water environment as a stand alone course.
Prerequisites: Must be qualified as an IANTD Full Cave Diver or equivalent Must be a minimum of 18 years of age Have a minimum of 25 logged cave dives
Equipment Requirements: Fulfill general equipment requirements for Cave Diver programs Specialty equipment as specified in the IANTD Cave Diver Specialty Student Workbook
Side Mount Diver Requirements: Side mount harness & buoyancy device approved by instructor prior to course
Multiple Stage Diver Requirements: Suitably rigged stage cylinder and regulator with SPG for each cylinder/regulator combo
Survey Diver Requirements: Suitable survey slate and equipment needed to record data
DPV Diver Requirements: Suitable DPV for dives planned
